Well, I'm no computer expert. I just have my theories and messed around with some things. Technically it should be illegal for anyone to open your mic or camera without your consent. But if you remember what Snowden shared you know the possibility is there. Backdoors into routers have been a thing for sometime, PRISM, etc. WebRTC is a somewhat newer thing being build into browsers and apps. They are on by default for functionality. This allows outside access your mic and cam. I dont know much about it, I just turn it off. For IOT devices that rely on apps its not as easy to see all the details. User settings only show so much. Someone would have to reverse engineer or understand the code to really know. I guess you can check connections for out going IP addresses and do look ups to see. Also, in your browser if youre using uMatrix you can see what technologies/websites w/e the parent website is connecting you to. Google is knee deep in nearly everything. Facebook embeds itself in your systems as much as it can, at least it did when I used it years ago.

There was a video I saw where someone took 2 android phones. Put one in airplane mode and the other normal, walked around a busy part of town and then dumped the data on incoming and outgoing packets. The phone in airplane mode actually sent more data than the one connected to the cell towers. I dont recall the tech side of it too well, but it was something like hundreds of connections being made all giving bits user info.

This thing with youtube is probably them just trying to monetize more clicks. Forcing you to store a cookie or if you log in, for data mining. Again I'm no techie, Im just a guy with a computer.

Lol, you sound a lot like a tech guy.

I have to admit that I could only understand half of what you were saying but I get the gist. Camera is always off and with duc tape stuck over it. Mic is always off when I'm not on discord. Cookies are usually deleted after log out/closing my browsers.

My primary phone doesn't have bluetooth or the capability to go online, just text messages (no pictures) and phone calls. People call me dumb for my old school phone and for not being on whatsUp but the joke is on them.

I have to read the new Google (YouTube) policies and changes. Something is up. YouTube never asked me to log into my account in all those years. I'm glad that I already saved the content of my account. Reddit is also pissing me off with the constant harassment asking me for my email.

I know that they eventually get me or already got, one way or another. I wish I was more of a tech person. Hey, thanks for the information you gave me.

To be honest I only understand about half of it too lol. Beyond having the devices off, meaning no apps using them, I think operating systems have the devices (to a degree) in a state of readiness. Which I suppose can be managed by the power settings...

Everytime youtube is asking me for login its storing 2 cookies the newer consent one and the other standard youtube cookie, which also btw has a consent rule in it. It's about tracking your browsing I'm sure.

EDIT: I want to share this funny anecdote. I was talking to someone about youtube and the possibility of it spying on me. Going on about how Alexa and Siri are always on and listening. Starting to feel like a crazy. After about an hour. While working at my desk. A message from Amazon pops up on my phone for an RFID pouch.

Why did you deleted your posts? There was nothing wrong with them in my opinion.
