You can make up to ~$100k in FOREIGN INCOME without being taxed.

Not sure this is true. I worked abroad for a year and made $36k that year and still had to pay US taxes. Maybe it's true for how they calculate loan payments though

You're right, US citizens are still obligated to pay taxes when outside the country. Not all countries do that but the US does.

This was the thing that made it not possible. I worked there for 6 months but lived there for a year, but during the last 6 months I had to leave every 90 days to reset my visitor visa, so I was not there for an uninterrupted year technically.
