I'm not sure you can blame the stereotype shared by the entire world outside the US on "liberal white-guilt". The image of incredibly dumb, uneducated and arrogant yankee is probably more than a century old now, though modern American Left definitely put a lot of effort to invigorate this meme by their own example.

Ah yes way back 2nd and 3rd wave feminism and then before the libertarians decided to worship China. Yes, once upon a time your average Joe could, off one income, own a home, support a family, and even travel abroad if he wanted. All these 'peasants' showed up everywhere polluting otherwise upper-class only destinations. For shame.

Don't worry, elitist, those days are long gone. As Obama, the unbeliever in American exceptionalism said, "those jobs aren't coming back."

You underestimate to power of media. The opinions of everyone outside of America all come from the same place, and Hollywood is extremely anti white and anti American.
