Sides. Hrumph!! Nothing wrong with being Independent. Just consider the long view, along with perceived short term benefits. My two cents.

It's really hard to be independent though when you don't have a lot of resources or purchasing power to buy resources to isolate yourself from society. Post hunter-gatherer Human nature says we have to stick by other humans side to survive and eat bread. Even then if you wanted to become a hunter gatherer it is legally impossible given all the restrictions of eating wild meat from the woods.
