I heard an idea that every emotion maps to a muscle or set of muscles. We hold on to emotions with our mind, but also with our muscles. I cross my toes and tense my solar plexus when I'm anxious. Sometimes I find myself doing those things for no reason, and when I stop tensing those muscles I feel less anxious. I think our bodies all do this, but everyone has a different mapping of which emotions correspond to which muscles. I think that's also why some people find working out to be helpful for resetting your emotions.
