Does anyone else find it odd that people go out of their way to edit their photos to the point of not even looking at themselves any more? Probably an ATROCIOUS example but to me that's the same as putting a Ferrari badge on a Fiero. We all know you're faking, and why not embrace what you are? Instead of the 30 million filters, what about just a nice image without the editing? We all have flaws. If you're over weight, how about lose the weight. Bad skin? Why not go to a dermatologist, use cream, or try a better diet that clears your skin up.
I am an extreme case. I have a nose I don't like. Most people don't notice it but I decided to have a surgeon correct it. He's taking the bump out and that's it... Some may say it's vain, for me I have always wanted it done.
The point is that I will go to that extent because it's the way I REALLY look. It's not fake, I am correcting something I do not like in the real world. However, I'd be more insecure if I made myself look like somebody else on instagram and when people saw me in person, would say "Huh? You look... well, different".
I just cannot understand why people make themselves look so wildly different online without the mere thought of realizing that someone WILL see you in person. How you can look at yourself in the mirror and be that unsatisfied after all of the editing!?
