There's no professional sports which is nice for a change.

I am honestly surprised more people aren't crying out about this. I never cared for it much myself, but lots of others seemed addicted to it. But since it's gone away, I haven't heard anyone really mention sports, or the lack thereof, at all. It's like way less people actually cared than I thought, and most of the hype around sports was just media-manufactured

I think the ideal is for people not to care about celebs as much. Right now we're seeing a negative climate where a lot of the celebrity fixation is negatively focused (such as looking for "bad" things people said/did to attack them over), but it still reinforces the idea that these people are really important. Hopefully we'll see more people starting to get a better sense of what matters and what doesn't.

I haven't really noticed anything. But hopefully it worked.

Just remember when you buy a ticket to a Hollywood movie, you're paying for children to be raped.

In past centuries celeb actor types where looked down upon and forbidden from holding office cuz they were immoral/untrustworthy.

I can testify that celebrities are typically of questionable character because the arts fields are not something which require high ethical standards to begin with

They gave a standing ovation to a man who was convicted of raping a 13 year old girl in the ass.

We're all lead to believe things have a much bigger following than they do in reality. Almost nobody gives a fuck what celebrities say, and those that do are unimportant in the scheme of things.

I have seen more of it over the past couple years. I think people have felt that way for a while, but being stuck at home, etc. has just made people looser lipped.

I think this pandemic caused a lot of people to have enough immediate problems in their lives that they don't have the mental space to pay attention to celebrities, so they've just started to seem extra full of themselves. Also, younger people seem like they pay more attention to internet figures or niche music artists than your standard hollywood A-listers.

I think also a lot of people are scared because the foundations of their way of life are shaking, and when people get scared, they often get very egoistic and full of themselves, as a way to counter the scared feeling. Like they're just fronting harder than ever so they (and others) don't realize how worried they actually are. I think for many it's a coping mechanism

I think I've noticed this somewhat. But people I know weren't that into celebrities in the first place, so it's hard to tell if their opinion has become more negative.

I member right after 9/11 took place many celebrities did a special on TV for charity, they did songs and speeches. I actually really liked Tom Pettys version of I won't back Down, I remember him looking at the camera looking pissed and saying that. But anyways yeah nowadays people would tell them to stfu. I guess it's different since they had to do videos remotely and that just seems like low production values and cheap, so more annoying. I compare that to the imagine video they did. I guess 9/11 was also easier to virtue signal for, all of us MERICANS got attacked but most of us didn't really suffer anything, those in the towers and planes did of course and around NYC. But this corona effects us all, we all have to socially distance and wear masks and I think most americans are annoyed by it and do think it's a hoax.
