Yes. Makes me wonder if they were ever friends at all.

That’s the thing. A lot of these people were never actually friends with me and I was happy to see them go. In many ways, I know that I somehow foolishly let them go. But the few real friends who I lost did hurt.

I had sort of a friend of a friend reach out and try to “bring me back” in a couple conversations because she “knew I was a good person,” which I appreciated. But the conversation turned into her saying things like, “I can’t believe my best friend ever slept with you. I can’t believe A ever slept with you.” Mind you, these are people of different racial backgrounds from me (as well as from each other) who I dated for a combined NINE years and have remained friends with until this past year.

My response was, “Oh, so you wanna sleep with me. That’s why we’re having this conversation.” We debated that one a little while. She never said no. Actually her brother in law is probably one of the few leftist I remain on good terms with, now that I think about it. But we never see each other.
