I find that my flashing tail light has had a very good effect. I just recently bought a car and I feel much more vulnerable driving the car on those same routes that I had previously biked on. I did once on a Sat morning get buzzed by a pickup with duellies on a beautiful Sat morning. He and I were the only ones on the road in either direction. I live in a majority black area and I was riding in a heavily black country area. This guy was a 25-35 years old white guy Hey buzzed by so fast I wasn't able to ck for confederate flags or a full gun rack. He ruined that route for me. I rode it only once more. I stopped to move further to the right for an ambulance and tumbled over and down the hill. My heart was brightened by 2 individual carloads of young black males as they stopped their cars and so kindly rushed to my assistance. Fortunately my only problem was extreme embarrassment.
