See, THIS is the kind of stuff I like to read.
Two thoughts :
There's no date I can see on this essay. Is this old as in around 2000 or is it more contemporary ?
I would love to see discussion about this essay and these ideas. The whole thing fits very well with the bazillion possible communities model of Saidit.

I can't find a date either.
If you want a discussion, the replies in this thread are it! I agree the ideas in the essay apply to saidit in very important ways. Saidit is still in the early growth phase, but some sociopaths have tried to move in here and there. I'm hoping we have a good enough business sense, combined with a good technological literacy, and a good understanding of social dynamics, that we can guide saidit to victory without being hijacked by sociopaths
