People say "David had only his slingshot" as if it was a child's toy. The slingshot was the AK-47 of its day, a feared range weapon, much cheaper and easier to make than a bow, and easy to use. In Biblical times, the maximum range of a sling was greater than most bows.

For best results slingers made stone, lead or pottery shot but at a pinch if you were desperate you could use random stones you find on the ground. Unlike bows, they could be used in the rain (although slingers had trouble with strong winds). With training slingers were as accurate as bowmen, and could easily hit an enemy in the face from a distance. A direct hit to the body could be fatal even through leather armour.

Goliath never stood a chance.

That sling in your second link is no joke. When I was a kid, I had friends who used one to (accidentally) take out a car window at a hundred yards.

Malcolm Gladwell wrote a book about David and Goliath. David And Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants. Here is a 15 minute video of him talking about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziGD7vQOwl8

More proof that the Jews were right.
