Interesting, the Greek word τόξον (toxon) can mean a rainbow. And there's this mentioning it to mean "a bow (apparently as the simplest fabric)"

I have to admit, I looked this up thinking the Greek word for the weapon bow and rainbow were going to be completely different.

I'm glad you looked up the original Greek. I did the same and when I saw bow also means "the simplest fabric" I thought of a flag made of cloth.
