The Quartering does a good job explaining what is going on. My question is, will this be the future of entertainment? IQ (the creator of this) claims he can remake a movie in about 24 hours. Will we now start to see multiple versions of movies coming out (from studios) with the lead actors AI replaced to specific races for specific regions and audiences? What's everyone's general feeling on legitimizing this and making race specific, multiple versions of movies?

It's retarded.

It's obvious that Disney purposely chose a black actress so they could market on diversity and faux racist outrage, but in reality nobody gives a fuck about the movie or who is cast in it.

It's a shitty love action remake of an animated movie. The fact we are talking about it at all means the marketing is working.

I'd Disney actually wanted to do shit to promote black actors sell the rights and finance some Ugandan or Nigerian studio to make their own version. You'd get something vastly different than Hollywood and I'd actually watch that shit.

The way things are going, I wouldn't be surprised at all. We've already been living with this in terms of our 'news' sources. You can't discuss anything anymore, because everyone is tuned into their own personal sites / RSS feeds, and most of it's garbage. We're already in our own virtual bubbles, and AR / VR / AI generated content will make that even worse, extending out to 'entertainment', ahem entrainment.

I see the rights to dead actors being sold, and then using deep fake sort of technology to they're likeness into new films

Why stop there, they may as well green screen everything so you can have a selection of actors you want in specific roles and buy them like pokemon cards to add in as you please.

Fuck this movie, Disney totally did this on the purpose just to piss off the right wingers and create the online drama, they clearly don't give a single shit if this "movie" will even succes financially or just be enjoyable to watch. Also, I actually feel sorry for that black actress, Disney just used her as a tool to create a cheap controversy, I bet they actuall don't care that she's mocked and insulted because of this shit movie. Fuck that disgusting, greedy, extremally corrupted corporation. I fucking hate them so much, just hearing the word "Disney" makes me instantly fucking nauseus.

I feel the same way about Disney. The more I hear about them the more I truly detest them. I truly hope this comes back to bite them in the ass.

It will be great when we can all tailor films to our taste. Perhaps we can change all those shitty marvel movies into series 2 of Fawlty Towers.

Netflix has no problem dropping nigras into period social circumstances that never could have happened in the real world. They are lying to all the little niglets and giving them false hopes.

Part of me wonders if it's not done to be woke(ie make white people feel better) but to reinforce a sense that black people have always been around white folks and had their existence silenced, thus creating some environment of racial tension.

lol nice

I kinda don't give a shit about the black mermaid thing, but you'd think they could have found someone better than Halle Bailey. Her weird-ass eyes make her look too much like a fish.

I actually think they should of gone with that.

"We picked the girl who looked most like a fish"

I can't see how she fits the part any other way.

Compare to Moana where they picked some random girl and she was perfect.

As if changing her face is going to hide her race.

Have none of you listened to the trailer?

I really don't think you can win on this one. The Little Mermaid isn't a traditional folk tale. It's Hans Christian Andersen, so putting black people in it is not much different to adding black people to Dickens adaptations.

I've seen enough Victorian setting costume dramas to know that's something they absolutely do. Which sucks.

Remember that one with Matt Berry and his sassy black maid who somehow went everywhere on his investigations? Besides, Indians were a lot more common in London back then iirc.

[–]jet199 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

There were at least 2 Indian MPs in Victorian London.

Don't see that mentioned very much. Now, why is it about getting black people seen over any other ethnicity? I truly cannot fathom. South Asians are the larger minority anyway, you'd think that would take precedence.

I'm guessing it has something to do cultural clout and oppression Olympics.

A different version of the movie for people of different races? Truly terrifying. Idiot wokists are making racism worse with this identity politics racial obsession

This is an interesting concept. Instead of picking the language on the movie menu, you pick the character races, their personality styles, switch to a different accent you are more familiar with, and otherwise just custom-tailor the movie to yourself.
