Man this is crazy, how did no one notice for 20 years.

It's not that no one noticed, it's for the most part, no one cared. And by and large, no one cares generally at all about actual freedom, or it's lip service at best.

As long as nothing gets in the way of Netflix, pronhub, TikTok or Instagram, the people of the United States will accept any level of tyranny you can imagine. You can even tell them what to put in their body..

Yeah unfortunately for a large majority of people, it seems you are correct. People only really fight tyranny when they're personally suffering from it, by and large. At least that self-correcting mechanism exists, it's just sad things have to get so extreme before many people start caring. If we just collectively looked a few steps ahead and had a better culture of understanding and wisdom, we could get somewhere. It's just staggering how few actually care about this though.

Yeah, I remember reading about this in the 90s or maybe 2000s and thinking how crazy it was. Now it's just another apparatus of the surveillance state that we've become accustomed to. EFF had a list of printers that didn't contain tracking codes, but they quit updating it in 2015 after coming to the conclusion that basically all modern printers have the codes.

Yikes, I'm surprised I've never heard about it until now. Looks like it only affects laser printers though, as implied by the video? So inkjets are safe? Or do inkjets have it too

AFAIK it's all printers.

Note to all bad guys: buy second hand printers and only use them once before you toss them into a landfill 300 miles away.
