Early CGI was absolutely amazing at the time and your brain would interpret even basic shit like phong shading or curved surfaces as being essentially photorealistic

Lol yeah I agree, I think the title is a bit click-baity. But a few of those animations were genuinely horrifying. I do kind of miss the surreal flat landscapes of 90s CGI though, it's like a Dali painting, in a way
