Telegram ain't great either. A lot of people on here use Signal, which is fine, but I use Matrix via the Element client — which used to be called Riot back in the day, cause the devs were edgy.

provide more evidence 'telegram ain't great either'? i heard somethings about it but it's probably from Signal app, a competing service.

I don't trust services that ask for your phone number, when there are plenty of competitors that don't. In 2016, they got hacked and millions of these phone numbers were leaked. The Telegram mods can also read your text messages, unlike in Matrix. There's also some kind of "Users live Availability Leak" thing, but I don't know what that means.
