Facts.

When I worked in tech support a third of the issues ended up a power cord or cable not plugged in properly or at all. Nothing beat a voice full of embarrassment on the other side of the phone when they, after 20 minutes arguing they aren't idiots, finally check the cable of the monitor and find it not plugged in right.

Another third was shit they broke and tried to pretend they didnt do something bad or tried to get warranty replacements. No madam, you do not get a new printer under warranty because your 7 year old stuffed a snickers bar in your printer and it's now full of melted caramel and chocolate.

I also got threatened a few times. No sir, I am not allowed to help you because you are backed up on 6 months of payments and your shit breaks all the time because you are careless. Yes sir I will look forward to seeing you at our office in an hour with your baseball bat. Shall I call the police to meet you here, we'll have a party.

I worked IT for 20 years and well aware of cubical rats, imagine getting a call where Mr. X saying I see nothing on my monitor.

Me. Do you see lights on the computer.

Mr. X Yes.

Me. Do you see a light on the monitor.

Mr. X. Yes.

So I walk up five flights of stairs walk over to Mr. X and have to ask him let me sit, I look at the PC and it's on but when I look at the monitor it's not on so I push the botton and wow it works. 20 years dealing with twits and I can count on one hand when someone said thanks, by the way we ( five techs) was always on call and had to help the cubical rats even if it was our lunch time/rest break. In 2008 I filed a lawsuit and ended up winning $50 k

That ended on a good note though.

I just quit that job after 2 years. I just couldn't take it anymore. I started to hate people.

I started to hate people.

Funny you said that, other than having lunch with the wife, market and getting gas I avoid public places. I also keep to myself and been called unsociable by many. Being a kiss ass 40 + hours a week really does a number on the mind.

It does. Honestly I think everyone should do a job like that for a year to understand what its actually like and then gtfo before you lose your sanity.

It was too exhausting.
