i always read that charles manson wanted to start a race war, which isnt really much different from the plans of BLACK LIVES MATTERS.

Not really, he thought a race war was definitely going to happen no matter what he did so jumped on the bandwagon.
The black panthers actually supported Manson in this and declared it the year of the pig in his honour.
