On saidit? You can use the search feature but I don't remember the title of the post involved. If you are talking about google maps, I just tried it and could only see the area of Antarctica nearest to the tip of South America (Tierra del Fuego). The map would not navigate closer to the South Pole but I don't use google maps often.

On the Mercator projection the poles are infinitely far from the equator. It must be truncated somewhere. Google Earth will show the poles. But Landsat-type sattelites only use near-polar orbits, so you don’t get real pictures.
