The dog one scares me... I have a feeling it could track and follow me for days, until I was exhausted.

Haha the funny part is the batteries on these things probably have a lifetime of about 4 hours. And the more you work it out, the faster the battery dies.

Could just spray it with water but they'll probably make it waterproof eventually. Then maybe pour acid on it to break the waterproof barrier, wait a bit, then throw water on it.

I've also seen drones are pretty terrible at dealing with things like nets. So you could probably just wrap it in a fishing net. Also could just shoot it. Even shoot it with a paintball gun and cover the visual sensors.

Then there's also software options like GPS spoofing, gaining wireless access through backdoors... Also a strong EMF gun pointed at it would probably work.

What you're ignoring is

  1. how early in development these are

  2. This is what they're showing us so you know the real tech is FAR beyond this.

  3. They're very aware of the weaknesses (nets, water, acid, etc) so they're guaranteed to be focused on improving to overcome.

  4. All those theories go out the window when there are 100 of them together complete with their own drones, mobile support, etc.

Be VERY afraid, folks. When these things start up as soldiers, we're fucked.

We're probably 10 years from them being soldiers for basic tasks, and probably 20 years from robocop, I'd guess. But they will have weaknesses. It's impossible to make a robot completely failproof (or any system for that matter)

EMP and they're done. Flesh and Blood robots are still the most dangerous. They are here right now, and there's no shortage of them. Also they are cheap as fuck.

You're a damn fool if you think that. Do you think they're posting the newest tech on jewtube?

Do you think the military uses their newest tech in the field? No

[–]mongre 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Yes. New tech is tested in the field but not openly and consistently. This subject is huge, though. It's going to be a massive step when the first group of robots are publicly deployed for autonomous "service".

Yes it will be. I think they will first be deployed as bomb-sniffing bots and things like that. It will be a long time before there are robot police that do human-robot interactions, that's an entirely different level of difficulty.
