I don't understand your speculation.

If I had a trust fund I wouldn't be so determined to be so remote, nor to live in a place like that. But I'm not him, so I don't know. He likely has reasons.

I'm following another guy, Woodness Goodness, who has taken a year and only just finished the interior. He's no trust fund guy, whatever that may mean, but seems to be a hipster and DIY guy, on a budget and has mentioned his work though I forget what it was. https://www.youtube.com/c/WoodnessGoodness/videos

My uncle didn't need a nice one with the house on the other side. Unless well occupied it will likely continue to be broken into by wandering locals. Muskoka is still pretty wild.

It’s because there are certain rich kids who grow up with excess and they get really into this style of off-grid and/or minimalist living.

Thanks for sharing that channel, I love these builds!

You mean it's like a lifestyle-hobby-pastime-trend? I suppose if you're rebellious and go stark and minimal counter to your parents' complex opulence. Some go save the whales, I guess this is another way.

I peek in at a lot of alt-home channels. Many of them are bland day-to-day stuff or a project in process and few do concise summary videos worth sharing. The good ones I post in /s/Architecture, /s/DIY, and /s/OffGrid, and eventually I'll make a dedicated /s/Earthships for my fave. If compelled to I could start some /s/Architecture/wiki lists of alt-homes and related stuff - such as the channels I frequent.
