I love these but I can’t help but assume they’re trust funders. Everything about them, the design of the house, and the people I know personally who do this, trust funders all the way down. It’s tight as fuck though and I want to build one at some point too.

The mustache kinda gives it away, huh?

Haha YES, but it’s the whole package coupled with the fact that trust funders like this NEVER tell you how much shit really costs. And I’m not an Eat the Rich commie either, like, this is not a dig at him or at trust funders. Just saying I know this dude. Not him exactly but I know “that guy” and this build including the land was not $65k.

I get you completely and agree! I saw everything you did haha, the mustache was just the icing on the cake. Still, beautiful home id love to have!

To build new is much more expensive, so I wouldn't be surprised it if it added up to $65k. He'd never get that in a sale - even before COVID.

I also know how much my deceased grandparents', now my uncle's, very large log home was valued at in 2011.

this build including the land was not $65k.

Land in rural areas without infrastructure (roads, sewage, electricity, telephone) can be had cheap. I used to know a prepper who'd buy land like that for when the SHTF.

It absolutely could be $65k. Land out in the middle of nowhere is cheap, and he doesn't say how much land he has. If he cut the boards himself from the local trees that would be huge savings. Not that he did that though. But if you aren't counting all the labor, tools, and don't have permits or codes to follow that is easily doable.

The mustache might also mean he's legit rural. Many trends and styles have actually reached out there, via markets, delivery, and of course the interwebs. Not to mention, many millionaires are building "way out there" in places like Muskoka, and their influence rubs of on the minions who actually do the hard labour. If he did this himself, there's a chance he's contracted on some bigger gigs. Without knowing his location and circumstances one can never know.
