It's so bizarre. That episode is very sympathetic to the trans character. It's the self absorbed narcissistic boss who at first seems open minded but turns out to be a clueless git (and misses out on the only relationship that's ever worked out for him in the bargain) who is being made fun of. Plus, apart from that plot thread the episode is one of the funniest pieces of tv ever.

Interesting take. I love the show so I'm biased but I never got a hateful vibe. Obviously people looking to shut down discussion don't really care. They just want to be mad and shut down discussion.
