I imagine that the cops are scared shitless. They had to call in the national guard and everything. I hate cops/DEA agents, but don't blame them for not wanting to risk their lives to save fucking Target.

Obviously I wasn't there, but I suspect they certainly could have done something to stop it. Even making a gesture to stop it, whether they planned to carry through, would have likely made a difference. In short, I think you're giving them too much credit. This is their fucking job - allegedly. Firemen risk their lives (within reason), and the police are not paid to stand around and watch crime - unless it serves their totalitarian purpose, funding, etc.

Some of those armed citizens are having a busy evening, I'm sure.

Maybe someone could bring some fireworks, or something if things quiet down there.

Just to help pass the time...

You know, to calm folks down.

They could have.

Yeah. I guess it all depends on the numbers. I'm picturing like 30 on 2, but hell if I know. Widespread cops sitting there doing nothing would be something to dig into and a waste of tax dollars.

Even if it was "30 on 2" - who are the supposed to be the "authorities"? Until there's actual overwhelming violence to retreat from, they claim to be. I don't know if there were more or less than 30 people were standing around the 1 cop kneeling on the neck and the other cop standing by, but it shouldn't matter if they are legitimate - which obviously neither case, nor the institution is.

I don't mean to dissect you, but your statement. I often lapse in to the programmed groupthink mindset and slap my forehead but appreciate it when folks point it out - not just for me but for all the readers and lurkers too.

Full disclosure: I haven't delved into that particular ongoing regional crisis, intentionally. I'm kind of in stall/procrastination/vacay mellow mode. Focusing on the CSS was good half pulling me out of my news addiction. Aside from the remaining issues I can't get past I think the Ergonomix is done, finally, for good. I still have much left do on SadItron to get it on par. Then some banners and 40+ applications of them, and then I can really focus on my story for September.

Dissect away man. I participate to learn, sometimes I'm wrong wrong wrong and dumb :)

Me too. I just wanted to be clear for readers, and maybe get exposed to new views I hadn't considered - plus I actually (usually) enjoy it when I have to come around 180 on an idea.
