You could make a selective documentary about anything and make it seem common place or even excessive - like Climate Change, the Holocaust, how the military is noble, or that Hollywood is good.

Sure it's whataboutism. But in this case I'm not wrong. You can justify almost anything in media. In the Avengers movies Thanos was a compelling character not because he wanted to wipe out half the lives in the Universe (then all of them to start over) - but because he had justifiable (in his mind) reasons to. It doesn't make him correct, but it is a compelling argument.

What ever region on Earth you live in can be photographed by professionals that can make it look like the best place in the world to visit (ie. tourism commercials, business opportunities, etc) or the scummiest place to avoid (ie. public service announcements about the environment or crime or poverty, etc). That's a fact jack.

All documentaries are essays with a specific viewpoint. Neutrality is a myth. That's what it's all aboutism.
