Good skit and I would agree it would be nice to treat academics in this manner. And the truth is, while we don't have TV channels/shows dedicated to celebrating educators, there is some hope. Check out the top YouTube channels for education: https://socialblade.com/youtube/top/category/education
Many earn in the millions. Yes, most of the top 100 are corporations, but not all! And even down into the 500s it's likely dominated by individuals earning potentially 6 figures. My son watches this channel in school: https://socialblade.com/youtube/user/mathantics
I'd say your chances of "making it" in sports are comparable to "making it" on YouTube and you might even have a better backup job.
