I’ve never heard a good argument for the UK staying in the EU.

But then, since Brexit, I’ve only ever really been on reddit or Facebook so perhaps someone here has one.

I’m an American and think it benefits the world economy to keep more large “nodes” of control so I prefer having the UK and then also the EU.

I was once a staunch remainer and I am still a Lib Dem supporter which may sow fertile grounds for sneering but as the onerous debacle has sailed on the same wave for so long I just feel like grabbing the closest life ring and just beating it over my nut til I'm pissing blood. The whole shitshow has really worn me down to the point of feeling a genuine appetence for self-immolation.

I'm still on the remain side but that's only because I sense that it's a lesser of two evils. That's all democracy teaches us to reason with anyway. I don't support an avaricious and mammoth institution like the EU but with Britain left to govern with freer rein sounds scary to me, given the authoritarian police state we already have. I know the EU is responsible for enacting a lot of these surveillance edicts and such, but the UK could possibly have unfettered deal makings that will subjugate us to a much higher degree.

Economically, it's ambiguous at best. There's already been plenty of companies letting go thousands of people in the confusion of it all. I think we're better off having our apron strings tightened until we do away with the conservative government. I'm not expecting to be intellectually challenged on anything I'm saying because, like most cats over here, it's a half and half shitblend of intuitive mulling and hangdog apathy. I just hope anything eventually fucking happens before I'm out of commission.

I appreciate the open and honest answer. I guess from my perspective, it took the exit vote as a sign that there were some living and breathing Brits still willing to stand up to ever increasing statism.
