Which is wise to take tiny portion of the population is getting so much attention and being made a divisive issue and pushing the simple-minded into participating... To find their "self identity"

Make margarine, kill turkeys decide to sell margarine to people, vilifie butter, people start eating margarine. Rinse and repeat.

I realize that's an oversimplification but the basic mechanism is is the same.
