It seems that certain media outlets just love to run anything negative on Teslas that they can find. If they can't find anything negative, they just make stuff up. I strongly believe they are being paid to cast Tesla and Elon Musk in a negative light. If the company could be made to fail, it perpetuates both the oil and gas industry and the regular automotive industry. Those are the strong players that have something to lose, so they are probably funding all these hit pieces. I read an article the other day that seemed to indicate that Tesla was failing badly about something-or-other, but when you go read the data yourself, it was actually the opposite. The article cherry picked to make a negative headline.

I own a Nissan Leaf and I love the snot out of that car. When it dies I will probably buy a lower priced Tesla. Electric cars are great.

yeh, its prob. like the Anti Klimate Lobby idiots.....ps cool you have a LEAF , i had a Electric scooter but they diddent told me honoust how long a battery last and how much it really cost-a new 1-+the battery charger also brakes every 5 years $$$$$$, i baught the scooter from my last seavings,It was realy great injoying to drive and NO cost aslong as nothing goes broke, but the scooter cost 3600 euro, a new battery=900 euro+a new battery loader=800 euro both to replace +- every 5 years ( every +_6000 kilometers witn my weight) and thats when you drive ones a week (10-15 miles/Kilometers- So thats insane ,driving it everyday you would have to spent a new batter+holder so +- 2000 euro every year while the new scooter cost 3600 , its insane, so Koos Werkeloos=JObloss me had to sell it....PS can you repleace the battery of the Leaf-elektric cars or not?

Yes, you can replace the battery on a Leaf. Mine is 3 years old and it still has full battery capacity at this point. The new batteries cost almost as much as buying a used Leaf. (About $9000 USD) It can be done yourself, but the batteries are really heavy and come in a very large pack. So usually it is done by a Nissan shop mechanic. I'm still waiting for a third party battery manufacturer (or someone who will rebuild an old battery pack) for cheaper than a new Nissan battery.

I've also seen replacement batteries for hybrid cars such as Toyota Prius. These have been around long enough that you can buy a third party manufactured battery and they are a LOT cheaper than Toyota's factory battery.

It's interesting that for the Tesla, they are considering a battery "subscription". They are really easy to change out (it's the whole bottom of the car which just unbolts), so you basically just drive away with a new one when your old one dies.

If I had one of those electric scooters, I would look into replacing the battery and charger myself. You probably can get it a lot cheaper if you are not afraid of doing a little research and getting your hands dirty. It sounds like they are buying cheap Chinese batteries and chargers and marking the price way up.

Most (if not all others?) electric cars don't do the 'self-drive' like Tesla.
