Wow that's a pretty intense reaction by the IEEE. I wouldn't expect them to ban people like that just based off a US gov't recommendation.

Because I went to EE school and that's how it was always portrayed.

But also they keep track of standards for electrical devices, they're not exactly a political organization, just a standardization organization. So I'm just surprised to see them do something so political. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
