As for my current 2018 setup, I am running an iMAC

This guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Based on this line alone the entire article can be ignored.

RAID 1 has saved me tonnes of times.

It's not a backup system though. You still need a mechanism to cover any other scenario than disk failure

Are you saying, a system that creates a copy of itself, to store in a separate location (eg, not a different drive), is not a backup? It's a backup.

If you copy your data onto a separate drive and store it at a different location. Is that a backup? No it's not, what if the second building catches on fire? That is what this apple faggot is saying.

No. I am backing up from hardware failure. I do not back up for stupid users. EG, not myself and people like you.

Sorry, I replied to the wrong comment.

I stand by my words, even if I do not remember what I was talking about. High levels of conviction.

That's the definition of good backups though whether you like it or not.

Having a SPOF completely defeats the purpose of a backup. What you have is availability that you prefer calling a backup. Those are not the same two things. While you as a normie might be fine with that, nerds actually realize the fucking difference. Apple consoomer or not, fucker is still right.

Did you read the article? I read the first part at least.

THIS IS NOT A BACKUP SYSTEM (in reference to RAID)

It is a back up system. If there is hard ware failure, a backup is available.

    The end.
