Never forget that back-doors in Intel® Management Engine and AMD's version of the same are lower level than this.

You can flash Libreboot, though the process is rather technical and only supports specific older CPUs. Or you can buy a laptop with Libreboot preinstalled.

That's not going to work on a nice fancy 16 core CPU/motherboard though. It is easy to avoid the built in back-doors if we go back to stone age processing power.

Yep, that much is true. RISC-V might be another viable solution in the future.
