A Norwegian shipping company Havila has banned electric, hybrid and hydrogen cars from its ferries. After a risk analysis, it was concluded that the risk to the safety of the shipping fleet was too great. If a car catches fire, the fire can no longer be extinguished.

It’s a problem that fire brigades have no practical solution for. Other than let it burn out.

This sounds reasonable to me.

I support the move to electric and hydrogen technology, but it's still early days and until the problem of fire is solved, they should be banned from ferries.
