This is why I'll probably end up driving older cars for the rest of my life.

I know. I have two 20+ year old ford trucks and I have no plan to buy anything new. One is in storage. When one goes I bring the other out. I figure I have 15 years at least between the two.

Personally, I would love to have an early 90's f-150. Those were very reliable vehicles. But by 2000 everything Ford sold was trash. If I was given a Ford made after 2000 I would sell or scrap it immediately.

I beg to differ. My two f-150s, one a 2002, has 225k on it and the 2003 has 285k on it and neither have had a head off, a starter replaced, a radiator etc. both have had transmission work and one had an alternator done. Other than tires and batteries, I’ve had no trouble really. Both are two wheel drive and 4.6.

I see a burgeoning business opportunity for hacking all these 'subscription accessories', which will touch off an arms-race between the manufacturers and "tamperers". It'll probably be as widespread as the Ad-block and DRM wars.

Does the remote start use cell phone service to work? If so that is a standard practice.

Eh, this is what these smug fuckers get for buying overpriced foreign crap instead of overpriced American crap.

So they basically guaranteed themselves a drop in US sales?

Brilliant! /s
