This is what MS did in 8. They catered to the smartphone mind set that are used to having to treat things as an ongoing service. They fired most of their PC people halfway thru Win8 which was originally going to be a more robust Win 7. MS should've left well enough alone and just done small updates from 7 as the computer scene was just starting to get more stable and people were figuring out how to code for it before BAM! More f'ked up changes which made many jump ship.
TBH they should've just let things at XP and worked their way up from there.
