By default. It is possible that installing Linux is still possible by changing the settings in Bios ...

Yeah, thanks bro... legacy boot almost always works... i read that in your source...

My point being: They are letting microshit squeeze their balls by changing their "standard-behaviour"... They seemingly don't have the balls to implement a workaround for all the penguins around the world working with this devices every day...

This is what makes me furious. Because i always thought Lenovo at least somewhat actually respects its users and faithful customer base.

Turn off Secure Boot in BIOS.

Hasn't that been going on since Secure Boot was invented?

Well then, "no Lenovo for me", or anyone who asks me what to run Linux on.

I got Ubuntu on one of my Lenovo devices, but oddly enough on my other one I had to revert back to Bill Grates MichaelSoft because there were no drivers for the specific model wifi adaptor and when I bought a dongle there were no drivers for that either. It was very frustrating!

This is clearly a violation of anti trust laws.

Corporations don’t care, because politicians have been bought and paid for.

System76 for the win.

Fuck Lenovo laptops. I’ll stick to HP. Or switch to Dell, Acer, Asus or Toshiba. Lenovo is trash.

Sony vaio and Fujitsu used to be so good too now they are extinct, now we have to use modern hardware which is made by modern scum, right u/fschmidt?

I wish Sony and Fujitsu kept making computers. But they didn’t. Also, LG stopped making smartphones. A lot of good brands have stopped making products.

I am on some HP machines right now, so i agree on this.

But updating the UEFI with Linux seemed impossible. So i had to send them back to the dealer.

They reinstalled windooze (because i don't touch this fucking virus) and updated the UEFI on them.

For me that was a rare though useful appliance of money.

Then i switched hard-drives again. Easy, basically. Only took a while, sadly.

On the laptop i can't deactivate the "beep" since then. But i cannot be bothered by bullshit like this.

Anyways: My plan on buying Lenovo machines ever again is dead now.

Never had a Lenovo. I have a HP laptop, previous one was also HP, and the one before that one was a Dell.

It's only the logical next step on Microsoft's path to more effectively serve as spyware for the deep state. Get a System76 notebook if you want to be free from all the malware garbage.

Why not just get another hard drive then? Is the Microsoft push at the BIOS? Or you could just not buy Lenovo. Or you could use your 15-year-old laptop to run Linux like I've been doing.

What Linus Torvalds said to Lenovo:

You should kill yourself now! And give somebody else a piece of that oxygen and ozone layer, that's covered up so we can breathe inside this blue trapped bubble. Because what are you here for? To worship me? Kill yourself. I mean that, with a hundred percent. With a thousand percent.
