Now the electric car: 1. pull into garage or charge parking space. 2. plug cable into car.

Well, when:

Adding a plug to your garage costs over $1k
Most apartments won't have the option for a plug due to #2 and cheap landlords
Still a major lack of infrastructure
It becomes a hassle.

Where are you from that a kitchen or laundry room has enough space to park and charge your car ever day?

Try and think for a few seconds, if your home has electric cooking range. well hell almost every home is wired for 115 and 230 volt. Unless your home was built in 1920. My home built in 1948 has 230 V. My sons home built in 1988 has 230 V and 115 v.

I suspect the hassle comes from 1) the time it takes to charge and 2) lack of charging stations which means you can't just take a road trip without some real planning.

A little tip, people are advised of the driving range before they pay a cent. Now what educated person would buy a electric car with a range of say 300 miles to take road trips, my jeep gets about 6-8 mpg and I would never use it to head over to las vegas.

Seriously. It's probably only a problem for apartment rentoids.
I'm an " apartment rentoids" living in a apartment built in 1941, the units have 115v and 220v. If I can afford this then lazy people are just Psychological projectio.
