Didn't read, but hoping it impairs the major social media apps.

Feckless optimism on a Sunday morning.

One plus 6 here, but using custom ROM (MicroG LineageOS). Any shenanigans the manufacturer takes part in I don't have to deal with. But a bit disappointing. It would be nice to have good alternatives to the bigger players in the mobile market.

Fairphone wouldn't pull this shiz but they aren't sold in the US. I'm always bringing them up though when I can because it's a company I believe in and want to succeed.

Fairphone is an environmental "social enterprise", concerned more with hardware wankery than with software. Librem by Purism and PinePhone by Pine64 are in the US, and they're targeted toward the high and low ends (respectively) of the enthusiast and privacy market, instead.

I love their take on hardware, and that's where it all starts for me. I do hope to be running something besides ios or android on a phone one day though, and I try to keep up on those other companies from time to time.

I have few apps on my trusted old oneplus 6t, wow just looked. Roku, keep, chase, wyze, ting and that's it.

Who'd have thought Chinese enterprises could copy US-scam-methods? Nobody could've thought that.

Nobody. Maybe except for CIA or Oracle.
