We're currently deciding on a nice rebranded name (as Audacity is trademarked) and are in the process of founding a GitHub organization afterwards. What is there to improve? A fork would imply that the product is ever-changing and needs improvements. Just grab an old version and be done.

Carswell is probably one of those guys that thinks every software project has to be constantly updating.

Where was I calling for constant updates? I only asked for a version without the spyware.

An old version is fine for now. When they add the spyware I would assume they'll add some kind of improvement to entice/dupe people into getting it. The new FLOSS fork can implement that new improvement without the spyware - or simply omit any involvement with the corrupt version's direction. Furthermore, a loud and public announcement of a fork without spyware would make the world aware and cautious of the attempted hijack as well as publicly shame the problematic parent company and their minions.

Just about every web site you visit, app and program you install on your PC or phone is doing data-collection. Even back in windows 98 it had it.

But with some time and dedication you can even unbug your android device. I'm doing this with my devices now for some time. My goal is to ungoogolize my world and then maybe write down somewhere how it can be done without loosing to much usability.

That's the dilemma between these.

I've used Disroot for getting rid of Google account. Now I have contacts, tasks, notes, etc. synchronised there. Just look it up.

Does this apply to other OSes such as Linux? I don't remember there being a pop-up EULA window to agree to and click on(fuck those things BTW). Edit: Reading the article answered my question. Duh. It's a really shitty way of subverting FOSS. I'll just go back to Ardour and hope the interface has been adapted to a 4K format(the font size is for ants otherwise). But damnit, this stinks.
