I can't speak to other states, but I feel like Texas has been badly mismanaged over the last few decades. We've passed up big opportunities like legal thc, growing cbd (sale is allowed so our money can flow out to other states), expanded Medicare, we wasted the Katrina money, then the Harvey money, we knew this flooding was going to be a bigger and bigger problem as we paved everything over with concrete but did nothing.
We knew this kind of winter storm would be a problem. We knew it had happened before and it will happen again. We did nothing.
Texas is a legal haven for medical professionals too. I can't prove this, but I suspect we get the worst doctors in the country because they're essentially immune from repercussions.
It makes me mad, all of this and more I can't think of off the top of my head. Texans are good and decent people, but we have historically had politicians so corrupt we had to limit the number of days they can meet a year so they can't rip us off as much. And those politicians are largely republicans.
