What a deceptive article. It tries to set up the idea that Mitchell was fired after she fired someone how wanted transparency and openness.
Yes, in fact Mitchell disagreed with the original firing, which was on the publication of a paper that blew wide open how "large language processing models" in AI are a threat.
They were right. Imagine never knowing if the person you are talking to on the 'net is real. They could literally sandbox you, train up AIs on your past conversations and simulate your friends, your family, all your networked connections.
