    The left has many parallels to the religious right of the 80's/90's. Especially when it comes to censorship in order to "save the children". Same goes for book burning/deleting comments/cancel culture.

      Well, google is a search engine. It's not the only search engine. No one is limited to 1 search engine, you can use multiple search engine depending on what you seek. As for microsoft, window is an open system that is way cheaper than apple for the same thing. Linux could eventually surpass window, but window is pretty good at its job.

      The right does not have the same opportunity to build tech. For example parler is an alternative to twitter. It was not out competed by Twitter, it was taken off the internet in violation if RICO laws because it was competition to Twitter.       When Microsoft bundled internet explorer with windows they were sued under RICO laws. Netscape was first, it was better, and it was destroyed by Microsoft's anti competitive practices; which the courts acknowledged as illegal. Netscape wasn't stupid, explorer wasn't better. Competition can only work on a fair playing field.

        were... being the dominant theme. Nowadays parts like the home button have a key, which must be programmed into the phone by apple when you replace or .... the phone stops working. You can't do it yourself, as the private keys for the programming are help by apple and not shared. We need a hero!

        But even if leaked, apple just replaces with the next signed update.

        At the moment the option still remains to move the 2 or 3 key crypto / memory / cpu chips to a new motherboard, but fucked if its easy. replacing resistors is ok, with a lab grade microscope and specialised gear, but chips with the connections underneath are a whole new level of hard. Props to the people who manage it

            They might manage to stop the repairs of broken devices in countries like UK,USA and similar developed nations. But how are they going to stop some guy in India, running his shop in an urban jungle with no permits required and no brands affiliated to? Or some Chinese guy bringing a few parts and doing it at his house? They can't. And they can't do it properly anywhere. If you want to repair your phone, you'll manage to do it. But what apple goes for is making it difficult enough that the average person just forgoes repairs and buys new.

            In 1985 we had to decide 1500$ for an Apple that can barely have colors and no dedicated sound chip or Commodore with a full dedicated Sid Chip and a full color palette. Technically it can do 16 bit if pushed hard and you could later add a 2nd sid cartridge for duel sound. Total price at launch? 500$ Price we paid? 300$! It was a steal! And we still have it! We even have the Commodore Plus 4 which didn't go anywhere though at that time there was a new leadership that did not share the same dream though it has a VERY interesting keyboard way better then the C64.

            The only apple product I understand is the Ipad.

            The computer is just a worst Linux working on Doss with a close system and more virus than window 10 and which cost more. The phones are just android with less battery.

            For some reason the Ipad don't have direct competition on the market. The googlebook and the microsoft pad aren't really design to draw stuff yet and those which are cost just as much as the ipad.

            I guess there's also the mac book air because it's really thin, but that's about it. It's not like the apple logo is good looking either.
