Does anyone else out there think that expected response times to email have become unreasonable? For example, co-workers often expect immediate responses to emails and get personally offended if one takes longer than expected to respond. People assume that others have nothing else to do besides be tethered to their email accounts 24/7 and never look away to focus on attention intensive assignments, phone calls, writings, readings or other chores or projects. Any attempt to push back is futile and will automatically brand one as not a "team" player or "disengaged" regardless of the overall quality of the person's work. Technology was supposed to help humans. Instead, I'm afraid it has enslaved us.
