If i buy a Pinephone now (in its current state), will it be usable in 5 years from now, or will I have to buy a totally new Pinephone to avoid compatibility issues with the distros? This is mainly the reason I'm holding off on buying one, since that question is never brought up.

Tbh it is cheap enough for me to not be too worried, but at the same time that mindset disgusts me.

Which mindset? Mine? I'm just asking not due to cost, but more of the hassle. Should I wait until the hardware matures, or it is good enough that an install 2-5 years down the line will work fine with the hardware? Nothing bothers me more than trying to trouble shoot problems for hours, when it's simply due to hardware that's no longer supported. :P

I meant my mindset where its cheap enough that I would buy another phone rather than faff about with it.

Ah ok. XD

Don't mind me though, I tend to be picky, even though I bought a bunch of Raspberri Pis through out a few years (i think). I don't like having things sitting around unused, which is why I held off from buying. I do plan on buying a Pinephone, just I plan on using it as a phone, rather than a tinkering device. ;)
