From 'save the environment' to 'funding by slavers is OKAY' in the flip of a coin. Is it reasonably to expect some sort of outrage in the fan base if this goes through?

We're here to save the environment with oil profits! I doubt Tesla's target audience would care too much about this relationship, but I wish they would.

One person tried to broach the subject in the tesla sub on reddit, resulting in a super controversial thread with only 43% upvoted: https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors/comments/977owy/ive_supported_tesla_from_nearly_day_one_i_cannot/

But searching the sub I see no mention of Saudi buying it in any recent headline. I just tried posting it: https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors/comments/97eg2u/elon_musks_mystery_tesla_buyout_funder_is_saudi/

Now, let's just sit back and wait for the downvotes or mod deletion, despite it having no bias and being extremely relevant to the sub.

That 43% day one post is great. Too bad no one will see it on hot. I think your post went down the spam memory hole. It doesn't show up on https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors/new/

Yeah it got one downvote and died. I wish I could say I'm surprised

That's a good point. Some will probably be outraged, but my guess is our corporate media will cover for it well enough that it'll just fade in to obscurity.

The most interesting/fucked up aspect of this, is Musk claims they will do a buy out at $420, but the stock is at $340.00. Why would you want to have a buy out at $80.00 more? Why does it need to be inflated? It's a waste of capital on market shares.

Yeah that's a great point. I guess he's bragging and implying that Tesla is worth a bunch more that it is valued at today. Maybe trying to pump the stock or encourage confidence in Tesla based on nothing. Or trying to pitch the buyout as not being a move based on desperation.

I read something today that said the SEC or whoever could charge him for claiming a buyout is happening when it's really not. Like if there is no Saudi money possible then he's committing fraud.

On top of him accusing people of being pedos on twitter.

I could see that, like the laws that surround pump and dump scheme. Also, that pedo come back was hilarious... although I don't agree with making shit up and calling everyone a pedo, it was a good come back for an ex-brit white Male living in Thailand... hilarious imo, I do love seeing drama irl.

Interesting... I've never read about people giving money to George Soros before...

That's what it is? I read it as Soros giving Tesla $35 million and Solar City $305 million in exchange for bonds/ownership.

Oh no nevermind I misread it, sorry. You're right.

Thanks for the article.

his narrative must keep expanding to bring in more cash to keep the Tesla dream alive.

Heh that's so true. Like so many companies, they require endless expansion to keep the debt-game going. If they stagnate, it's like the housing bubble popping. Exceptions not meeting reality, resulting in unrepayable debt, resulting in collapse.

I actually bet the Military-industrial complex and the oil companies associated with it actually love Musk partnering with Saudi, since they're always looking for way so strengthen ties since we get so much oil from there and we're dependent on them to keep the petrdollar system, and thus the US dollar, afloat.

The rest of the article really shows the stark difference between Musk's presentations and what's actually happening behind the scenes. Much like Bezos and Amazon, contrasted with the ghastly work conditions of the amazon warehouses.
