We hope someday to put the saidit database in to a torrent, but we have to figure out how to remove/encrypt private data like direct messages, and also how to super-encrypt the passwords so no one can try and crack them once they have the database.

your passwords should already be encrypted after passing through a hashing function via the webapp. As for Direct Messages, I just wouldn't include them in the torrent.

Yes the passwords are already encrypted, but we want additional layers of encryption since people could sit there and hack the database if they have full access.

Like you say, we probably will just end up not including direct messages or things from private subs.

It's standard encryption right? so what will they do, reverse engineer the AES 256 or whatever encryption you guys are using? I don't really know how you'd add an extra layer without adding some program that will provide another table of user login information.

None of this seems necessary IMO, if peoples accounts are stolen when their passwords are encrypted using public key then tough luck. Nobody here really cares about the karma, it's about the content being honest.

The problem with currently uncrackable encryption is that it only takes a few years to become crackable. that's why 'dark' net transactions are so dumb. The PTB just need to obtain archives and sit on them until they've got the tech to open them. 5 years? 10?
