A large X1.0-class solar flare was just emitted by the sun aimed directly toward earth 5 hours ago. The Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) particles are aimed directly at Earth and will arrive over the next few days, so we may see auroras in the skies

KP5? Interesting. Yes, I would have thought this might be stronger than that. Maybe our magnetic field isn't as weakened as I thought, which might mean the Carrington event might be for the next sunspot cycle... Sigh.
