We didn't know it even happened for over 8 minutes.

And if it weren't observed we would likely never notice despite the doomer claims from "scientists" that this kind of event will destroy civilization as we know it.

It will, and when it happens, you'll be wondering WTF just happened. It'll be amazing.

These types of events can fuck with the electrical grid, which can cause power outages...so technically yes, it can “destroy civilization as we know it” because nearly everything is electric.

It won't. And when it doesn't all the people who claim it will still won't admit they were wrong.

The claim is bullshit. Even if it blows some transformers it won't be worse than the power outage from an ice storm or hurricane, something we handle without a problem.

People usually evacuate for big hurricanes and can prepare for ice storms. “Some” blown transformers is only not that big of a deal in those cases because it’s expected within the storm region. We can’t exactly predict which transformers may be severely impacted by a geomagnetic storm.

Does this mean a big Aurora Borealis event?

Fuck it, I’m saying yes. If not, you can say something mean to me for being wrong.

Yes, definitely. Along with likely earthquakes on the West Coast USA, week-long power outages and heart attacks.
