Are Aerospikes Better Than Bell Nozzles (1:01:31) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4SaofKCYwo ~ Everyday Astronaut, 2019-10-18

Not to be confused with:
A drag-reducing aerospike is a device (see Nose cone design) used to reduce the forebody pressure aerodynamic drag of blunt bodies at supersonic speeds. The aerospike creates a detached shock ahead of the body. Between the shock and the forebody a zone of recirculating flow occurs which acts like a more streamlined forebody profile, reducing the drag. ~ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drag-reducing_aerospike

If you know of alternative and/or non-mainstream tech I should investigate for my hard-sci-fi cautionary tale in /s/BittersweetSeeds - feel free to lemme know. (For example, I'm also considering turbojets, ramjets, and scramjets for pre-rocket stages on a much larger load.)
