I'm not sure if it's the same. But when in semi chronic pain like bruised parts, burns, extreme sun burns etc: Mindfulness meditation helps a lot, don't know how it is for 'beginners' but yeah. It's not ignoring t, it's going with it and accepting it (Sure in extreme cases the drugs might be better but I'm talking stuff you don't go to the doctor to but still is painfully distracting.). Getting a little focus inbetween normal functioning is a, to put it in words, sweet relief.
